One of my favorite things about Christmas is taking out all the old decorations. Decorations are filled with memories. Today as I set out one of my nativity sets, I suddenly realized that the nativity set was 14 years old! I paused for a moment and thought of so many Christmas'.

I love that nativity scene. So, so pretty! I love pulling everything out from storage too and getting the house ready for Christmas, I just don't like putting it away.

We just finished putting our Christmas lights yesterday, we still need to finish inside. I am excited I am finally going to have a Christmas together with someone I LOVE!
I love decorating for Christmas. It's my favorite time of year. This year has been tough because I am SOOO pregnant but luckily Ryan has been great about getting all those special holiday decorations out and up. What a fun time of year!

The Holdiays always remind me of Grandma because she loved them so much, she always had a way of making them special. Making tamales or telling the girls to decorate the tree, or even letting them write Merry Christmas on the windows with fake snow, jajaja.... It was her way of getting all of her little chics together. But amazingly enough, how the thought process goes, I then thought of her great cooking and how my sister picked up many of her secrets, THEN I remembered of a paper I wrote for a Cross Cultural Communication class I took after I had graduated from college, the paper was entitled Aroz Con Pollo y otras sopas: the kind that grandma use to make. I wish I would have a copy of the paper because I remember that in it I wrote about how we were loosing our culture and as we saw generations of our family I would see less and less cooking of the sopas grandma use to make. (DO YOU GUYS REMEMBER HER OATMEAL AND BUTTERED TOAST, AND TANG OF COURSE, I swear I grew up certain that was the same one Goldilock ate in the fairy tale story.) Of course, in the paper I bragged about my sister who did and still does follow many of my grandmothers dishes.
Then I thought well my New Years resolution is going to be to learn to make Calabaza Con Pollo, I use to love my grandmas, I can taste it now!!!!! She would put corn in it.
Maybe you all can help? What was grandmas secret? What made it taste so good? Please post reply.
